Salt Creek Wind Farm is currently under development near Woorndoo, around 250 kilometres west of Melbourne, in the state of Victoria, Australia. The site is located on a Merino Stud Farm and offers excellent wind resource. The current permit allows construction of up to 15 turbines, producing up to 100 GWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 30,000 homes.
The targeted commissioning date is April 2018.
Planning approval for the project was obtained in 2007 and site works commencing in March 2012, with development of the site facility foundations and the project entrance. Works were paused to allow for negotiations for a connection to the grid. The site includes an operating commercial quarry.
Trustpower purchased the project in June 2013. An application for an amendment to the project’s permit, to allow an update to a more modern, efficient turbine design, is currently with the Moyne Shire Council.

Tilt Renewables will continue to recommend maximising local employment in our construction contracts. The majority of local employment is during construction, but the operations phase also provides opportunities for local employment and local business contracts. Typical goods and services likely to be sourced locally include accommodation, engineering, freight services, construction materials and equipment, local labour, technical contractors, earthworks services, fencing and landscaping.
