Waddi Wind Farm – Community Benefits and Employment
Tilt Renewables is committed to sharing the benefits of our projects with the local and regional community.
Waddi Wind Farm Community Reference Group
The Project is committed to provide the community with accurate and accessible information so you can understand what is happening and provide feedback.
The Waddi Wind Farm Community Reference Group aims to connect with community as the Project progresses into the construction phase.
The Community Reference Group will meet four times a year to discuss project updates, address concerns and provide feedback. Meetings will be chaired by an independent facilitator.
Benefit Sharing
A Benefit Sharing Plan is being developed for the Waddi Wind Farm. The plan is focused on:
- Ensuring the local community directly benefits from the Project
- Creating a legacy beyond the immediate benefits of the Project
The Benefit Sharing Plan is being developed in consultation with the Yued Aboriginal Corporation, Shire of Dandaragan, involved landowners and with input from the wider community.
Environmental benefits
The Waddi Wind farm would generate approximately 421 GWh per annum. That’s enough clean energy to power 68,000 homes. Every year this would avoid 290,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. That’s the same as taking 120,000 cars off the road.
The Waddi Solar Farm would build on this generating enough renewable energy to power a further 17,000 homes. Every year this would avoid 71,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
Jobs and local investment
The Project would employ around 150 people during construction and up to five people during operation.
Typical goods and services likely to be sourced locally during construction and operations include:
- Accommodation
- Engineering
- Freight services
- Construction materials and equipment
- Local labour
- Technical contractors
- Earth works services
- Fencing
- Landscaping
