Coopers Gap Wind Farm
The Coopers Gap Wind Farm is helping reduce Australia’s carbon footprint by generating enough clean energy to power up to 232,000 Queensland homes annually.
The Coopers Gap Wind Farm is located 250 km north-west of Brisbane near Cooranga North, between Dalby and Kingaroy. The project area is on land that is mainly used for cattle grazing and other farming activities.
The Project has 123 turbines capable of producing up to 453 MW making it Tilt Renewables’ biggest wind farm and one of the biggest in Australia.
The wind farm connects to the National Electricity Market via the Western Downs to Halys 275 kV transmission line via a new substation.
Construction commenced on Coopers Gap Wind Farm with substation earthworks in September 2017, and with first generation in June 2019. Coopers Gap Wind Farm entered full operations in 2021. Coopers Gap Wind Farm produces approximately 1,515 GWh annually.
