Nyngan Solar Farm

The Nyngan Solar Farm generates up to 102 MW of renewable energy. That’s enough to power up to 42,000 homes

The Nyngan Solar Farm is located about ten kilometres west of Nyngan, NSW. Nyngan is an ideal location for a solar farm with strong and consistent solar radiation. It is also located between Dubbo and Cobar, two areas with a high demand for power.

When built, Nyngan Solar Farm was the largest utility-scale solar photovoltaic plant in the southern hemisphere and remains one of the largest in Australia.

The Nyngan solar farm is made up of about 1.36 million solar PV modules installed on frames. These modules are at a fixed (non-tracking) tilt of 25 degrees, facing north. They are wired together in arrays and connected to inverters which transform the DC current produced by the modules into AC current that feeds into the grid.

The Project officially began operations in 2015 and continues to operate efficiently to this day providing customers with clean renewable energy.
