Tilt Renewables Backs Lifeline’s “How’s Ya Mate?” Program to Support Aussie Mental Health

Tilt Renewables is proud to announce its three-year sponsorship of Lifeline's How’s Ya Mate? program, an initiative dedicated to strengthening mental health and resilience across regional and remote communities.

Developed by Lifeline in partnership with the AFL, How’s Ya Mate? encourages Australians—particularly men in regional and remote areas—to check in with each other, share stories, and break down the stigma around mental health and wellbeing.

How’s Ya Mate program has been operating in the Broken Hill area since 2016 and has a proven track record in improving the community’s mental health and reducing the risk of suicide.

As a renewable energy leader with deep roots in the local community, Tilt Renewables shares Lifeline’s commitment to supporting those who keep the country running—especially in challenging times.

“Last year, Tilt Renewables spent more than a million dollars supporting the communities where we work and next year we plan to spend a lot more,” said Anthony Fowler, CEO of Tilt Renewables.

"Mental health is something that impacts all of us in one way or another and we believe community care should be part of the energy we generate."

“We are committing $300,000 over three years because we’ve seen firsthand how Lifeline’s “How’s ya Mate” program has worked."

“Our sponsorship will allow Lifeline to broaden outreach efforts and deliver tailored resources to more communities in Far West NSW and across regional South Australia.”

Lifeline’s Regional SA and Far West NSW project coordinator Jacinta Cullen said: "This is a significant and marvellous sponsorship that gives us the power to reach more communities with a message that saves lives: Checking in with a mate is a game changer.

“Together, Tilt Renewables and Lifeline are energising a movement—At its heart, How’s Ya Mate? is about real people looking out for each other. It’s the power of a simple question asked with genuine care—it can be the start of a life-changing conversation."

Welcoming the sponsorship, Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner, Tony Mahar said, “Support for programs such as How’s ya mate’ is a good example of how the energy industry and communities can collaborate to address mental health issues in regional and remote communities, particularly focused on men.”

“Partnerships and resources are crucial for communities to help each other and help maintain a vibrant and healthy community.”
