Leading Australian-owned renewable energy company Tilt Renewables started construction this year of the 288MW Palmer Wind Farm, 70km east of Adelaide.
The 288MW Palmer Wind Farm will create more than 200 construction jobs, support regional suppliers and deliver enough renewable energy to power up to 142,000 South Australian homes once complete.
Helping to mark the occasion, Tilt Renewables was joined by South Australia’s Treasurer and Energy Minister, Tom Koutsantonis for a formal sod turning event.
Laurent Francisci, Tilt Renewables Chief Development Officer said, “Starting construction on such a large project is a great milestone to celebrate and is the culmination of what has been a truly collaborative effort over many years”.
“The support of the South Australian Government through agencies such as Invest SA, as well as the assistance and feedback we received from Mid Murray Council, were crucial in getting it over the line”.
“Likewise, the support from the Commonwealth’s Capacity Investment Scheme combined with a long term off take agreement contract with our partner AGL, provided the certainty needed to make such a large investment”.
“Just as important was the active involvement of the Peramangk People, our host landholders and the local community”.
“Wherever we build or operate, we’re investing for the long term, working with our communities to support them now and into the future”.
“Here at Palmer, this means backing local jobs and suppliers, supporting the community by funding local projects through our Community Benefit Fund — building a legacy together.”
“The Community Benefit Fund is already delivering for the local community, funding new toilets for the Palmer Primary School and upgrades for community halls in Palmer and Tungkillo and Mount Pleasant.
“We would like to thank all our contract partners, - turbine manufacturer Vestas, our constructor BMD, and ElectraNet.”
