Silverton Wind Farm – Community fund and engagement
Tilt Renewables is committed to engaging with the community throughout the development, construction and operation of our projects.
Silverton Wind Farm Local Community Fund
The Silverton Wind Farm Local Community Fund is an ongoing fund for the operational life of the wind farm. It supports initiatives that:
- Deliver community wide benefits.
- Encourage innovation in and support for issues of community significance.
- Support the work of community organisations.
The Local Community Fund is run annually and awards funding for community initiatives within the Silverton NSW and surrounding area of $17,500 (+CPI).
Applications open mid-year. Anyone who subscribes for updates on the project will receive notification when the fund opens.
In 2024, the funds from the Community Fund were used to pay for electrical upgrades to all households and businesses in Silverton to enable generators to supply energy for the whole building. Tilt Renewables also gifted 26 Generators to the Silverton Community to provide back-up power in the event of blackouts, which are common in Silverton.
Silverton Wind Farm First Nations Fund
Tilt Renewables want to ensure benefits for First Nations people through our projects, so they are involved and can prosper from the renewable energy transition.
To do this Tilt Renewables is providing a Silverton Wind Farm First Nations Fund (Fund) of $17,500 a year (+CPI) for the life of the wind farm.
The funds will be given to Broken Hill Local Aboriginal Land Council to help achieve the vision and outcomes outlined in their Community Land and Business Plan.
Community Enhancement Program
The Silverton Wind Farm Community Enhancement Program ran during the construction period. It included:
- Solar Silverton Program with leaseholders and residences within 10 kilometres of the wind farm offered a 5kw solar system.
- Water Tank Program with all residences within 10 kilometres of the wind farm offered a rainwater tank.
- Mobile Reception Program which provided 4G coverage to the Silverton Village.
