Snowtown BESS – Planning and Approvals

Stakeholder consultations  are now underway to inform the planning and design of the Snowtown BESS

Planning Process

The Snowtown BESS is early in the planning and design phase. Technical investigations have also been undertaken since December 2024 to inform the environmental assessments and initial design for the Project.

The project is seeking to obtain an Associated Infrastructure Licence under the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023.

As part of the licence application process, Tilt Renewables has undertaken environmental and social impact assessments. These are detailed in the draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Statement of Environmental Objectives (SEO) that will be submitted to the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) for formal approval. These documents are linked below:

A summary of these documents is linked below:

Once Tilt Renewables formally submits the draft EIR and SEO, the DEM will undertake an additional 30-day public consultation period which will include an opportunity to make further submissions on the Project.
