Leading Australian-owned renewable energy company Tilt Renewables has started construction of the 288MW Palmer Wind Farm, 70km east of Adelaide.
Construction is expected to take two years and once completed the project will generate up to 288MW of renewable energy, enough to power up to 142,000 homes.
Making the announcement, Anthony Fowler, Tilt Renewables CEO said, “The start of construction is a major milestone for Palmer Wind Farm and follows more than a decade of planning, consultation and design refinement,” Mr Fowler said.
“Over this time, we’ve worked hard to reduce its environmental and community impacts cutting the number of turbines from 103 to 40 while maintaining similar energy output.
“We’ve worked closely with Council, our landholders and neighbours to share in the benefits this project brings. Neighbours, the local community and First Nations people will receive more than $13 million in benefits over the life of the project”.
“Construction is starting this week and will initially involve preparing the site including access points, internal track network and site offices”.
“We will do everything we can to minimise construction impacts on our neighbours, especially noise and traffic and we would like to invite interested members of the community to join our Community Consultative Committee”.
Tilt Renewables will hold monthly drop-in sessions throughout construction. The next session will be on Wednesday 29th July at Palmer Collier Park Hall from 11.30-1.30pm and Tungkillo Soldiers Memorial Hall 3.00pm to 6.00pm.
