Leading Australian-owned renewable energy company Tilt Renewables has started construction
of the Waddi Wind Farm, 150 km north of Perth.
The 108MW Waddi Wind Farm will create more than 150 local construction jobs, support
regional suppliers and deliver enough renewable energy to power up to 68,000 Western
Australian homes once complete.
Helping to mark the occasion, Tilt Renewables CEO Anthony Fowler was joined by the
Commonwealths Assistant Energy Minister, Josh Wilson for a formal sod turning event.
Construction is expected to take 2 years with more than 150 workers mobilised onsite, laying
the foundation for 18 wind turbines, each with a tip height of 206 metres. Early civil works have
already started, including internal access roads, site office and the first turbine foundations.
Anthony Fowler, Tilt Renewables CEO said, “Starting construction is a great milestone to
celebrate, and represents one of the final steps in what has been a truly collaborative effort”.
“The support of the Western Australian Government through agencies such as the Department
of Energy and Economic Diversification, as well as the assistance we received from the Shire of
Dandaragan to secure all our planning approvals, were crucial in getting it over the line”.
“Likewise, Commonwealth programs such as the Capacity Investment Scheme helped provide
the long-term certainty we needed to make such a large investment”.
“Just as important was the active involvement of the Yued Aboriginal Corporation, our host
landholders and the local community”.
“Wherever we build or operate, we’re investing for the long term, working with our communities
to support them now and into the future”.
“Here at Dandaragan this means investing in local jobs and suppliers, upgrades to the local
Community Centres and Primary Schools, and ongoing funding for local projects through our
Community Benefit Fund - building a legacy together”.
