Proposed Liverpool Range Wind Farm receives Federal approval

Tilt Renewables has received federal environmental approval for its Liverpool Range Wind Farm in New South Wales (NSW).

The approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act is a major step forward for the 1.3GW project, which at full build will deliver enough energy to power up to 570,000 homes.

Tilt Renewables CEO Anthony Fowler said the project would help prevent around 2.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere during its first full year of operation.

“This is equivalent to taking around 814,000 cars off the road per year, which is great news for the community and the environment” Mr Fowler said.

“We have worked with landholders and the community over a number of years to refine the project.

“Modifications to our project were approved by the NSW Government last year. This EPBC approval means that the Liverpool Range Wind Farm is now another step closer to reality.”

It is anticipated that the project will create around 550 jobs during construction and around 40 ongoing operational jobs. With a construction cost of over $2 billion, there will be opportunities for businesses from the local area and the surrounding region to get involved in delivering the project.
