Nonowie Wind Farm
The Nonowie Wind Farm is a proposed wind farm and integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located approximately 10km west of Whyalla. The project could generate up to 1.2 GW of renewable energy when constructed. This project will support new industries which will require clean energy sources. The Nonowie Wind Farm will be ready to support these opportunities when they come along.
The proposed site is approximately 22,500 hectares and located within the Whyalla City Council area, near the Lincoln Highway.
We acknowledge the Barngarla People as the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge that First nations people should play a central role in Australia’s energy transition, and that the Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation (BDAC) have ambitions to lead clean energy projects on their land.

Draft Concept Design
Since October 2023, Tilt Renewables have been using three meteorological masts placed on the site to record wind and environmental data. This data will inform the design and feasibility of the Project.
We are continuing to undertake several feasibility studies and surveys of the site, including ecological surveys.
These assessments help inform the design of the Nonowie Wind Farm. We will share our findings from these studies in the future at public drop-in sessions.
